Big News!Signing of the Major Supply Order by Russian and Chinese Companies, to Bring 700,000 Tons of Pulp and Paperboard per Year to the Chinese Market
The 5th China International Import Expo was held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Shanghai) on November 5. On the first day of the Expo, Xiamen C&D Paper & Pulp Co., Ltd. signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Russia’s Ilim Group in Shanghai in the field of paperboard supply.
The commercial pulp produced by the Ilim Group accounts for 75% of Russia's total production, while paperboard accounts for 20% and paper accounts for 10%. Currently, 44% of the Group's pulp and paper products are exported to China, and more than 500 mills in 20 regions of China are now using products from the Ilim Group. Hengan Paper, a well-known company, has a partnership with it and uses the pulp produced by Ilim Group.
Already 25 million tonnes of pulp and paper products are exported to China,and these are indeed a notch above the value of conventional sawn timber and logs. This is now the status quo for many Russian companies, which have signed large orders with many Chinese companies and have seen a significant increase in business.Russia’s annual pulp production is around 10 million tonnes, with exports of around 2.1 to 2.3 million tonnes per year, accounting for 4% to 5% of global trade, of which over 60% is exported to China and some to South Korea and Europe. Its paper and paperboard exports amount to 1.29 million tonnes per year.
Now since Russia is under sanctions from Europe and the USA, some paper mills are experiencing difficulties in production. However, making the most of forest products has become a key means of economic relief and the rise in production in a few years' time is promising.
